The Truth About Hearing God’s Voice

YouCannotConvince

Today God gave me a message that is not just for me, as I was in prayer and meditation with Him this morning. I believe when I write, which is my ministry, other people may get something to help them too.

As a person who has been studying self-help and psychology for over twenty years I would like people that have done the same to understand clearly that when we Christians say, “God spoke “this or that” to me that we are not psychotic.

I came away from traditional psychology because, in my experience, I saw very few clients/patients getting better. I watched so many people spend years in therapy, and years taking antidepressants, and never getting much better.

When I surrendered to Christ I had, and still have, a lot of supernatural experiences that healed me and changed me. God started to “counsel” me by a still quiet voice I heard in my head giving me advise, showing me where I was wrong, and guiding me into peace and serenity. I personally experienced something I knew was working. My own experiences taught me the reality of a living, breathing Christ, in the person of the Holy Spirit, who loved me and wanted me to be my best self. Each day, with Him, is another learning experience. I am able to teach others what God taught me, and through that counsel, I have seen many, many breakthroughs with clients and friends. When you experience the supernatural move of God yourself you cannot deny that it is real.

If you notice when Jesus counseled with someone, like the woman at the well, he got right to the crux of the matter. He didn’t do an intake, nor did he blame it on her childhood. It might have been a result of her childhood, her love addiction, but Jesus ignored that and dealt in the now.

The past is over, with its trauma. We can’t do anything about it, and so we need to deal with living sanely in the here and now.

The minute we surrender to God, and ask Him to guide us and our lives, he sets about to bring us to the right people to love and mentor us in His ways.

I have made so many mistakes. I am no saint. I have had to deal with the repercussion of a lot of those mistakes and it’s not fun. But once forgiven, repented of and turned away from, God sets about to mend the broken pottery of our lives. Sometimes he cannot replace a piece because someone choses not to forgive us. So instead he makes another piece to fit our new life exactly. He doesn’t leave us broken. I have found that the superglue He uses is so strong that nothing can disrupt the pieces of our new life that he puts together.

Nothing I can say will convince you to surrender your life completely to God. But if you do I promise you will be amazed, as you live your life in Him, how he makes all the crooked thinking of the past a straight road.

When people who have been in traditional counseling decide to counsel with me they find it different then anything they have experienced before. God speaks the truth about the persons situation to me and then I speak it to them, guided by the Holy Spirit. Sometimes just the knowledge of something that has been hidden comes to light and we wonder why in the world we missed it. We think, “I cannot believe I didn’t see that before!”

Along those lines I want to say that if you are a Christian and you are not hearing from God it’s because you are keeping something back you refuse to surrender to Him. Like the picture of the child not wanting to give the Teddy Bear to Jesus, you might have Teddy Bears you get pleasure from and you do not want to stop playing with them. It’s not up to me to judge you, however I am just telling you that nine times out of ten that’s what is stopping your growth in God.

Beloved, there is no time like today. Tomorrow is not promised to us. Surrender it all to Him and He will come to you with guidance, love and supernatural help. Forget the world that says your experiences with God are psychotic. We cannot please man and God. I choose to please God. Your choice is up to you.

What Are Your Sin Prejudices?

night-portrait-canon-flash-74472.jpeg

I notice that a whole lot of Christian have what I call “Sin Prejudices.”

I know that I myself have them.

You may be wondering what I am talking about. Well, let me explain.

Some people judge others even though we are told in the Bible, “Judge not lest you be judged.”

We Christians have certain things that might bother one person more then it does the other person.

While sitting in a restaurant once, with a dear Christian friend of mine, a woman walked past our table with an extremely short dress on that was also low cut and left very little to the imagination. My friend said to me, “That woman goes to our church. I cannot believe that she dresses like that and calls herself a Christian.” Now I understood where this woman was coming from because there were probably people in the church trying to overcome a porn addiction and this woman’s lack of modesty was only making it harder for them to do so. Church is not the place to dress like that.

There are other things too. There are people who are publically involved in sex sin, people who have terrible tempers, people who constantly talk about other people, people into porn, people whose children are holy terrors, people who still dabble in drugs and drink too much alcohol, gossips, people who put pictures of themselves half-dressed on FB and completely ignore the fact that there are scriptures about modesty.

If I didn’t hit your favorite Christian prejudice I am sorry, because unfortunately there are a lot of things we Christians judge.

I know that the bible tells us we are to judge, using righteous judgment. But honestly, none of us walk on water and a whole lot of these things are better off left in God’s hands.

I wrestle with certain prejudices myself. Those times when I say to God, “How can this person or that person really believe that they are saved and still participate in those things?”

I have had people bring up things, people and situations in my life, especially the past, and ask how I can consider myself a Christian and allow this or that in my family.

I started to pray for God to blind my eyes from some of the things I see and to help me to give them to Him. Frankly, I was really struggling with some of it.

One day as I was praying God downloaded the following into my spirit; “Cathie, what if you look at it this way, haven’t I spoken to you in my Word that the most important thing is love and yet it’s hard to love when you judge.” Then He said something that changed my judgment habit. He said, “What if that person is a test that I send to see if you really can love unconditionally? The one thing you judge the harshest, being unable to love folks just like they are, could just be the one thing that breaks my heart about you. You can’t just love the mature Christians; those who really upset you are your test. If you cannot get to the point where you love all, regardless of their weaknesses, then you will never get to where I want you to be. I want you to love everyone just as they are. Unconditionally.

It takes surrender, complete surrender to ego, pride and especially self-righteousness. It doesn’t happen just once either. We have to do it over and over and over again.

There are ways to handle things. The bible speaks about taking a church member, who continues to bring ridicule on the church, and speaking to them with a few other members of the church. In other words not giving up on them immediately. Then if they continue in rebellion they must leave the church. BUT that is only the job of a pastor and church elders. It’s not my job and probably not yours. We are told to pray about it, take it to the Pastor and then let it go into their hands.

I truly believe that we must learn to love unconditionally. Hate never brought one soul to Christ. Not one. Rejection, and many other things that we don’t know about, happen daily in a person’s life. You cannot reject them and expect them to see anything different in us then they see in the worldly that are not saved.

Have You Ever Been Mad At God? I Have

Jesusinthegarden

Do you ever get mad at God? I hate to admit it, and maybe I wouldn’t have admitted it until I read a blog entry by someone who used to write a Christian blog and no longer does. One of the reasons they listed is because they are, or were, mad at God.

Now I could get all judgmental and say, “This person is going to hell for being mad at God!” I might say anything or might have said anything prior to God helping me bring my tongue under control.

However, instead,  I didn’t judge the person because I understand that sometimes in the life of a dedicated to God person, we are going to get mad at God. If you don’t understand that you will before your walk with God is through.

In my case my life went to hell in a hand basket after a terribly unfair situation. I mean a REALLY unfair situation! Everyone I knew realized how unfair it was and how horrible our lives had become because of a mistake by a doctor and a hospital. There was no mistaking that their mistake had ruined our lives. So we took these negligent people to court and as unbelievable as it sounds we lost the case. Because we lost the case the house we were leasing with an option to buy was lost too. Our credit was ruined as a result of medical bills and now we were about to be out of the streets because the landlord refused to deal with us now that it looked like we couldn’t afford the house. He was rude, mean, and demonic and things went bad quickly. We had planned to buy the house and so had no money saved up and had to borrow money to move from high interest loan companies. There have been days we have had nothing but rice to eat but we make those payments on time. I have three payments left of 350.00 a piece and we live on fixed incomes.

God promised us that we would have justice. We were treated unfairly and we believed, and still do, that we should have won that lawsuit. But we didn’t.

My husband, due to his injury, couldn’t lift our furniture and neither could I. We literally ended up selling at least half of our belongings so that we could have the money to hire a mover. We found another rental home. The rent was higher then where we were but there were only two houses for rent in our small town at the time, and the other one was two stories. It wouldn’t have worked with my husband’s injuries.

At first I was so busy selling things, and getting paperwork together to try and get loans that I didn’t have a moment to think. I was on automatic pilot. When we finally got in our new rental it was weeks before we were relaxed enough to think about our situation. I had to sell almost all my dishes and glassware and had two coffee mugs left. One for Chuck and one for me and one day one slipped out of my hand and fell and broke. It was then that I too broke down.

I cried for hours. I lifted my hands to God and told Him that I was so mad at Him! “Why did you do this to us God,” I cried. I told him of all the things we had done for others during our life of ministry and the rest of our lives too, since we dedicated them to Him.

“I don’t understand you God? You know this isn’t fair and you know that we are flat broke with nothing at our age to show for our lives,” I said angrily. Bottom line is I let God have it.

Then as I cried myself out to a whimper and lay down on my bed exhausted, God begin to speak to me of His love for me. He told me that it’s not over and that He would not break His promise to me to have my own home again someday. But then I saw that the real culprit was Satan. God spoke to me that Satan was desperate because we had so many plans for that money that involved God’s people! Satan put people in that jury box that were cold hearted and eager to see us suffer because it was the only way he could stop all the good that was going to come from the money we needed.

It made sense. Our case is at the State Supreme Court now and they are hearing it. I don’t know how it will turn out but I don’t care anymore.

I began to see that I had put too much emphasis on money and not enough on God. I shouldn’t have thought about it at all and remained dependent on a loving father who saw to it that we still have a roof over our heads and gave us the strength to keep going day after day.

I apologized to God because I realized that our relationship with God is not a human relationship. Human relationships break down when we often don’t feel like we get what we need from them. We think, “If he or she loved me they would have done this or that for me.” But our relationship with God is a covenant. He never stops loving us, even when we do get mad at Him. It’s a love that is meant to be everlasting because He chose us. He knew who would be His from the beginning of time. That is a love that is supernatural. It’s a love that lasts through eternity. He is always on our side, and He promises to make something good out of our lives and restore the years the locusts have eaten away.

Any human relationship can and will end. Either through natural death or God only knows what. God’s love will never fail us.

Satan was laughing and dancing gleefully the day I threw myself on the floor and confronted God. I know that now and it breaks my heart. I was wrong. I realize now, more then ever, when you are working for God you are a prime target. The sooner Satan can make you mad enough to turn against God, the better for Him it is. The less people you can minister too the better it is for Satan. This is war. We have to put on armor and understand the enemy.

So get mad at God if you must, but don’t stay mad. Moses questioned God, Abraham questioned God and many others have too.

It’s okay to get mad, but it’s time to ask forgiveness of Him and restore your relationship. He’s waiting for you in the Garden! Meet Him there and make up with Him!

When Someone You Care For Disappoints You

Disappoint

I hate it when someone I believe in disappoints me. You work with someone, pray for someone, study the Word with him or her, and counsel him or her and then when you least expect it they are back in the gutter of life. We so expected that something we said would have stuck. We hoped and prayed that God would have given them a realization, like He did for some of us, that He hung on a cross, bloody and beaten to shreds, because of His deep love for us. We hoped that realization would have taken root and kept them strong for Jesus. Perhaps it wasn’t their time, or perhaps they were never really saved and just playing a game for what they could get out of it.

I am not saying that we shouldn’t be expectant. Of course we should always expect the best from those we loved. But we must remember that they are human beings, with imperfection, just like we all are.

Jesus expected his disciples to do their best. When they fell asleep the night before his crucifixion and left him alone, he felt awful, “He said to them, “Could you not stay awake with me?” But He knew that they were who they were. They were men in suits of flesh. The soul was willing but their flesh was weak.

God has used situations where people have let me down in many ways. First He has taught me that the perfect friend, pastor, spouse and relative does not exist. He has used these times of disappointment for me to cling even closer to Him.

This I know without a doubt. Jesus does not disappoint us. He is who He says He is, and He does what He says He will do.

As Christians the Holy Spirit is always with us to comfort us when a human being lets us down. He is there; too, to give us enough strength to get through situations by ourselves when someone we counted on for help has let us down.

So many people miss the boat when it comes to helping others. We are, as believers, to be reaching out to others, not constantly looking for someone to help us.

We have to keep focused on the good times Jesus promised us. We also have to be realistic. I don’t care who you are there will be hard times in your life and unpleasant people who are disagreeable. We should not quit pouring into the lives of others just because of a few who disappoint us.

People who disappoint us teach us how to be merciful. Can you imagine how many times you and I have disappointed God? Where would we be without His mercy and forgiveness for those times when we let God down?

So today, as I sense some folks are dealing with disappointment in relying on others who have let them down, lift your head up and don’t let it get you down.

God will bring others into your life that you will not be disappointed in. He will bring others who will be there for you through thick and thin.

Be glad you found out who the person that disappointed you really is. They are not the person they pretend to be. God is removing them from your life. Don’t hold on to them. Release them now so that God can bring people into your life that appreciate you and love you JUST AS YOU ARE!

Words Of Knowledge For God’s People

Some Words For God’s People

I do not know why,but I do know I’d better obey, this whole week God has been saying, “ It’s the calm before the storm. Stay close to me, rest up and save your strength because what is coming will take all the spiritual strength you have and more!

I have been praying during this time for many people, some on my prayer list and some that God just brings to my mind.

Here are some of the things God has shown me In the spirit;

I see a man who is literally at his wits end. He walks around all day with a smile on his face but truthfully he is torn to shreds emotionally. He is thinking of committing suicide. He has gone so far as thinking of different ways to do it. He is worn out from his stressful job and money worries. He loves his wife but her constant complaints are wearing him out. He needs help and feels there is nowhere to go, no one seems to care. God wants you to hold on brother! He cares and wants you to know he sees and is getting ready to increase your finances. You must hold on just a while longer because there is a promotion ahead for you. Just don’t blow it with “your mouth.” This is a time to trust nobody but me, says Father God, keep your anger inside. Soon everything at work will make perfect sense. Amen?

There is a woman God is showing me who is very devious. She is working against a woman of God. You think she is your friend, beloved sister, but she is two-faced. She says one thing when she is with you and it’s not the same things she says when you are not there. If you do not get her out of your life she will destroy it. God says to fast and pray. Surround yourself with angels and keep her as far away from you as possible. She is jealous of what you have and who you are. She pretends to be a sister in Christ but she has a Jezebel spirit and would love to destroy your relationships by telling lies about you. Bind that Jezebel spirit and keep her out of your inner circle. God will cover you and what she has planned for you will fall back on her. Amen!

Are So-Called Friends Becoming A Burden?

bridge child children fashion

“One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” Proverbs 18:24

Do you have a lot of friends?  Are they real friends, friends that will quit what they are doing and come running when you are in need?

It’s wonderful to have friends that are loyal to you, but how about you? Is it all about you or do you take time to ask someone “How are you doing?” prior to launching into a conversation regarding all your troubles?

If you are only concerned with your own problems you will not be able to keep many friends in life. Sooner or later we recognize, “Takers” because they take, take and take from us but are never there for us.

I find it interesting that when we finally decide we no longer want these takers in our lives that they act as if they don’t have a clue as to why they lost our friendship. They cannot stand the fact that they no longer have someone around to use as an emotional scapegoat. They then get paranoid, about all the things you know about them, and set out to start turning their friends and family member against you.

Isn’t it amazing that people no longer talk to you because of the evilness of other people? I used to let it bother me, but not anymore. At my age, I let it go. I try to ignore them. I go on with my life.

These people need to develop a relationship with Jesus. I have found that Jesus never leaves us and never forsakes us. Jesus is there for us and is on “duty” for us 24/7.

If you find yourself losing friends take your own inventory. Do you invest as much time into that friend as they invest into you? If not you need to change. If you cannot quit telling your problems to someone then get a counselor. As counselors we break the law by sharing the secrets of those we have counseled with.

Once you try to ignore these people they then send their “Flying Monkeys” after you.” I was shocked one day when an ex friends mother attacked me online as I made a comment on someone’s FB page. It was mean, it was cruel and not the truth. She had been listening to my “ex” friend and believed everything that she had heard. I then blocked them both. She was telling someone that I was not a “real” friend. What was sad about that was that I had given the woman’s grandson money when he was in need. I guess she had forgotten about that.

Sometimes you get disappointed with a friend. If it’s a one-time thing, talk it out and don’t let it break your friendship. But if it continues to happen then let the person go. We become like those we spend the most time with. Unless you want to become a whiner too, it’s best to let the person go. Pray for them, but let them go. Life is too short to be burdened with someone else’s problems daily. You too have problems and if they continue to dump on you don’t be surprised if you find yourself getting depressed, and angry, for no apparent reason. Like sponges we absorb a lot of other people’s emotions.

Find positive, happy people who love God. Find people who will pray for you when you need it. Find people who call you occasionally and ask you, “How are you doing, I was thinking about you!”

If you are anxious and stressed today, look around you. It might not be you but someone whom you are spending a lot of time with that is draining you. These people are so low on energy that they literally drain those around them. It’s not always you, but instead those who you surround yourself with.

Pride Born Of Hurt Delays Our Help

man s hand in shallow focus and grayscale photography

Photo by lalesh aldarwish on Pexels.com

9“Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! Matthew 7:9-11

My father was a man with a heart like God’s. The sad fact is though, with rampant divorce rates, a lot of people didn’t really know their fathers. If they did know about him they often learned that they couldn’t trust him. So because of that, a whole lot of folks have a hard time trusting God.

We may have grown up in a family where our needs were ignored, for one reason or another. Perhaps our needs were seldom met. The way we handled it was to get very self-sufficient. We may have felt that no one helped us anyway and so we learned, unfortunately, to never ask for help. In fact, we decided to strive to never ask anyone for another thing as long as we lived!

This is a source of pride, born of deep hurt. This is the type of pride that often keeps us from going to Daddy God for help. We don’t ask Him to help with our shortcomings either because often we were verbally abused to the point where we started believing we were stupid, or unwanted, and so we learned to keep our problems to ourselves and not trust anyone.

Jesus said, “And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking and you will find. Keep on knocking and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks the door will be opened.” Luke 11:9-10.

Beloved do you find yourself in a bad situation today? Are you anxious worry about how you are possibly going to make it? This is the time to give up our pride and our self-sufficiency. We must be willing to ask for help. We can’t ask for help once or twice and then be done with asking. There are times when we have to ask, ask again and keep on asking.

I have had times when I thought I would not make it. I still have times that I think I might not make it, but God has always come through. Nothing will keep Him from coming through for us, again and again. Sometimes He will speak to us what we should do, and where we should go for help. Sometimes He will put it on someone’s mind to help us. But, I tell you truthfully, when you humble yourself, lay down your pride and ask, God will help you.

Tell people the truth. Drop your pride and ask for help when you need it. I know it’s hard but people are willing to help when you ask in sincerity for help for you and/or your family.

Pride born of hurt and disappointment can lead to our downfall. Once we ask, as any loving parent, God will help or send help. Sometimes I believe God waits to see if we will put our hurt and pride behind us and ask. We have to, as hard as it is, leave the past in the past. We have to walk forward, one day at a time, and one step at a time, and as we learn to live for Christ, putting our addiction to feeling sorry for ourselves behind us. God will open doors miraculously and people will step forward and help.

One more thing I have learned is that nine out of ten times my help didn’t come from the people I thought, in the natural, could help me. It’s not the rich that usually help. It’s more often people who have been in the same place as we are and now like to help others in the way that God helped them. This is why God says it’s harder for a rich man to get into heaven then a camel to go through a needles eye. Some people, who have money here on this earth, are not givers. One day the Lord spoke to my heart that those are the ones who will not be in heaven. Let them enjoy it here, because they cannot take it with them and they won’t need it where we are going!

Don’t get preconceived notions about where your help will come from. God will surprise you. The thing is, you just have to ask Him for wisdom and keep asking. He will not fail you nor let you down!

Do You Have Unanswered Prayers? Here’s Why

The other day was my birthday and usually on my birthday I like to think about all the things that changed, for better or worse, during the past year.

As I pondered some of the hard things that happened I begin to speak to God about them. I thought about the fact that I had many prayers to God that He had not answered. I thought about how many promises that God spoke to my heart that hadn’t come to past and the longer I thought about it the more I told God that I didn’t understand it. I said, “God why are you not answering my prayers? I am serving you, I am trying my best to live for you and yet you have seemed to turn your back on me.”

Maybe you are thinking, “I can’t believe you talked to God like that!” Yes I did but be honest with me, at times you feel the same way. Yet, like me, you are still here and you are still trusting God.

You see Abraham questioned God, so did David and so did Job. That’s called relationship. It happens when we have relationship with God. We don’t just know about Him we know Him because we walk with Him and talk with Him daily.

He wants us to come to Him with our feelings, good and bad, because that shows Him how very much we want to be in a right relationship with Him. If God never answered another one of my prayers I still know how blessed I am!

I will tell you something else. Not for one moment do I think He will NOT answer my prayers. His timing is perfect and I trust Him that there are reasons for delays that I do not know about. I trust His love. As I was crying out to Him I could feel His presence surrounding me, I sensed His hurt that I didn’t understand what is going on.

Beloved, when God is all you’ve got, God is all you’ve got. That alone is enough. We have to trust that our answers are coming and when they do come they will be better then we ever thought they would be!

God has told us that in these last days things will be hard. I know that God has shown me that there is so much interference on a spiritual level that often keeps God’s help from getting to us when we think it should. There is a spiritual battle in the heavens. The goal of Satan is to keep us in so much doubt that we turn our backs on God. We know that God is stronger and that no demon in hell will keep Him from getting our prayer answers to us!

Our answers are coming quickly I sense it in my spirit. Do not give up beloved as I believe we are on the brink of miracles! God will not forsake us. Recognize the satanic interference and pray against it. I often walk around my house and tell Satan to get out, in the name of Jesus Christ. I can literally feel a great sense of peace as I do that! Please do that yourselves. If you need prayer write me. I take every prayer request to the Father!

In His Unconditional Love,

Signs And Wonders

expectamiracle

So Gideon said to Him, “If now I have found favor in Your sight, then show me a sign that it is You who speak with me.” Judges 6:7

A lot of times people tell me that they want to hear from God yet He never speaks to them.

The truth is that God speaks to those who are open to God speaking to them. God whispers to us each day. If you are not open to the whispers, the synchronicities, you will miss them.

God is very specific when He speaks to you. I find it so fascinating that God knows that I like puzzles. So He gives me pieces of knowledge and lets me put them together to see what he is telling me. That, however, is just one of the ways He speaks with me.

Right after you read this; if you are aware, God will give you little signs, little glimpses of His divine providence. You will see things in different ways then you have seen them before, if you are open to see things differently.

A dear friend of mine died a few months ago. I was broken-hearted by her unexpected death. She was younger then I am, so I assumed I would die before her. She was too young to die. She had sent me an instant message a week before and she sounded fine. She woke up one morning, said she was having a hard time breathing, and she died instantly. It really hit me. It made me realize that we never know when someone will die and so we have to really live fully each day. I was not able to go to her services. I was upset about it and cried my eyes out the day before. The morning of the day of her service I got out of bed and went into the kitchen to start coffee. I opened my window and in broad open daylight I saw an owl looking at me. The owl just sat on the fence and looked. I felt a peace come over me, I knew that it was a messenger letting me know my friend was okay, with God and would understand my reason for not going to her service. I was able to let go a bit after seeing the owl. Owls symbolize wisdom. Both my friend and I teach wisdom learned in the crucible of fire. The school of hard-knocks was a teacher for her and for me. That’s why we bonded well as friends. I do not believe in coincidences. God spoke to me in a way I was totally open to.

God uses birds often to speak to us. We simply need to read the times in the Word birds were used by God to see their significance.

One time during a hard time in my life I had to go to the bank to clear up something I was embarrassed by. My soon to be ex-husband, at the time, had taken money out of my account that was not his to take I was in a hard position. I had not idea how I was going to pay my bills. I didn’t know what to say to the woman who I assumed was so classy nothing like that would ever have happened to her. I figured there would be no way she would understand and believe my story. I sat in the lobby of the bank, waiting for her.

They had music playing that was piped through the intercom. I was praying so hard for a miracle with the woman when all of a sudden the song, “Tiny Dancer,” which just happened to be my favorite song for all time, played. I had never heard that kind of music at the bank. I immediately calmed down knowing that God used that to let me know, “I hear you and I am with you.” Sure enough the woman was totally understanding of my situation and was able to get my money back from my ex-husbands account and in to my own.

Start watching for signs. When you pray for a sign, God will give you one. God is with us always. We have ministering angels with us always. You do not have to depend on your own ability, just be open to God performing miracles for you. Say, right now, “Thank you God for working my situation out for me. I know you are with me and all will work out fine! Then watch for signs and wonders. God is with you, just be open to hearing from Him.

The Heartbreak Of Family Estrangement

EF32001F-AB79-4A0B-BCCF-E44EE1B42D24

Some of you will understand this, others will not, but I am going to say it anyway.

I was thinking today about the wonderful, fun get-togethers my family once had. Simple fun, laughter and good food. Then certain people marry into a family and they seem to be jealous of that closeness and they set out to spread lies and tear a family apart.

When we marry into families we need to NOT be jealous of our spouses other family members. It’s ridiculous to act like that. One day you will look back on that and realize how much time you wasted like that. Time you can never get back.

Jealousy and fighting are straight from the pits of hell. Do not be jealous of the relationship your spouse has with their parents or brothers and sisters. They are not going to leave you because of those relationships. Your spouse will love you much more for loving their family. On the other hand when you divide your spouse from their family they will hold resentment against you. They may not say anything but they will resent you for coming against those they love and expecting them to choose between you or them.

I know sometimes things are said and done by family members that we don’t like. We have to let those things slide off our backs. Surely God has given us enough Grace that we can overlook these things for a few days of a visit once a year. It’s called respect.

Spend time together, forget your grudges!
