You Can Have The Desires Of Your Heart

If you really want something you must go after it completely. Let your pride go.

I once wanted to work at a certain place. It was close to my house, the benefits were beyond good and the pay was excellent.

I knew I was qualified for a position there, and they were hiring, I sent a resume and had heard nothing a month later.

I prayed about it and then I decided to do something BOLD. I faxed my resume daily with a cover letter stating the facts that I would be a perfect fit for the job they were offering, etc.

I guess they got sick of it. To shut me up they called on Friday of that week and made an appointment for an interview the next week.

When I was ushered into the interview office I saw 5 people sitting there. When they started the interview the interviewer said, “We decided we all wanted to meet the person who wanted the job badly enough to fax her resume every day.”

I wowed them and I got hired.

Decide where you want to work and don’t settle for less. Decide what you want to do in life and, if need be, go back to school and get a degree to do it.

I have little patience for people using excuses. If you want anything bad enough, and it’s not immoral or illegal, God will help you get it.

Don’t sit there. Follow up on resumes and if you have to fax once a day and call them asking if they received your resume.

Don’t look at excuses! In God’s world anything is possible if you want it badly enough! I chose to see my glass half full and then God meets me there and fills it to overflowing!

Pride Born Of Hurt Delays Our Help

9“Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! Matthew 7:9-11

My father was a man with a heart like God’s. The sad fact is though, with rampant divorce rates, a lot of people didn’t really know their fathers. If they did know about him they often learned that they couldn’t trust him. So because of that, a whole lot of folks have a hard time trusting God.

We may have grown up in a family where our needs were ignored, for one reason or another. Perhaps our needs were seldom met. The way we handled it was to get very self-sufficient. We may have felt that no one helped us anyway and so we learned, unfortunately, to never ask for help. In fact, we decided to strive to never ask anyone for another thing as long as we lived!

This is a source of pride, born of deep hurt. This is the type of pride that often keeps us from going to Daddy God for help. We don’t ask Him to help with our shortcomings either because often we were verbally abused to the point where we started believing we were stupid, or unwanted, and so we learned to keep our problems to ourselves and not trust anyone.

Jesus said, “And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking and you will find. Keep on knocking and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks the door will be opened.” Luke 11:9-10.

Beloved do you find yourself in a bad situation today? Are you anxious worry about how you are possibly going to make it? This is the time to give up our pride and our self-sufficiency. We must be willing to ask for help. We can’t ask for help once or twice and then be done with asking. There are times when we have to ask, ask again and keep on asking.

I have had times when I thought I would not make it. I still have times that I think I might not make it, but God has always come through. Nothing will keep Him from coming through for us, again and again. Sometimes He will speak to us what we should do, and where we should go for help. Sometimes He will put it on someone’s mind to help us. But, I tell you truthfully, when you humble yourself, lay down your pride and ask, God will help you.

Tell people the truth. Drop your pride and ask for help when you need it. I know it’s hard but people are willing to help when you ask in sincerity for help for you and/or your family.

Pride born of hurt and disappointment can lead to our downfall. Once we ask, as any loving parent, God will help or send help. Sometimes I believe God waits to see if we will put our hurt and pride behind us and ask. We have to, as hard as it is, leave the past in the past. We have to walk forward, one day at a time, and one step at a time, and as we learn to live for Christ, putting our addiction to feeling sorry for ourselves behind us. God will open doors miraculously and people will step forward and help.

One more thing I have learned is that nine out of ten times my help didn’t come from the people I thought, in the natural, could help me. It’s not the rich that usually help. It’s more often people who have been in the same place as we are and now like to help others in the way that God helped them. This is why God says it’s harder for a rich man to get into heaven then a camel to go through a needles eye. Some people, who have money here on this earth, are not givers. One day the Lord spoke to my heart that those are the ones who will not be in heaven. Let them enjoy it here, because they cannot take it with them and they won’t need it where we are going!

Don’t get preconceived notions about where your help will come from. God will surprise you. The thing is, you just have to ask Him for wisdom and keep asking. He will not fail you nor let you down!
