The Truth About Counseling

This may offend some so I apologize in advance. If your therapy is working for you by all means continue.

Ten years ago I began to question the Lord about why so many people would tell me they wanted Christian counseling who were already seeking counsel with a secular counselor and we’re not getting better.

God used the woman at the well to show me the counseling method he wanted me to use. He spoke to me about the woman at the well. He said, “In secular counsel you delve in a person’s childhood. Bringing up all the hurt does more harm then good. When I saw the woman at the well I didn’t do an intake. I didn’t tell her she was a relationship addict due to her childhood. Even if true it didn’t matter because she was in desperate need of something to satisfy the hole in her soul that was being filled with anything to make the loneliness go away for a time. No. I told her exactly what I discerned. I told her she had been with 5 men and wasn’t married to the man she was currently living with. I told her what was wrong and then I told her what she really needed was to drink from everlasting water.” Jesus continued, “I cut to the chase, told her what she needed and she got it. She then went and told people, “Come and meet a man who told me everything I ever did!” I want you to discern the problem through prayer, tell the person what the problem is and then what to do about it.”

So that’s what I do. Granted I could make more money by dragging things out and making clients dependent upon me. As a matter of fact very few people pay me at all. Jesus wants us healed and whole so that we can help others.

Dwelling on events from our past is depressing and at the end of the day we have to accept the past, because it cannot change, and come to peace with it. Blaming our parents, even if they deserve it, is a way of putting our pain on someone else that was probably messed up by their parents too.

Accept,forgive, move on in peace.

Do all Christian Counselor counsel the same? No. I used the model Christ gave me and I have had so many people set free that are now living depression free. Not because of who I am but because of who HE is.

The past cannot be changed but the future can be whatever we want it to be.

Stay Alert

God is still, as of this morning, surrounding me with the following scripture, “The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away. Blessed be the name of the Lord!” Job 1:21.

We see things going in one way on the world scene but we serve a sovereign God whose ways we cannot always discern before He reveals them.

Stay alert and watch. Read the following scriptures with discernment. I will not make any prophetic announcement because that’s not my strong gifting but I will say that things on the National scene could become shocking before this year is over.

New International Version

“Do not put your trust in princes, in human beings, who cannot save.” Psalm 146:3

Psalm 118:8-9 New International Version (NIV)

8 It is better to take refuge in the Lord

than to trust in humans.

9 It is better to take refuge in the Lord

than to trust in princes.

The False Prophets

I want to preface this by saying this is not about anyone I follow. I only follow people that have proven track records. So please do not think I am speaking of any of you!

One of the ways God uses me is to speak the truth and expose darkness. Because of that, speaking out of the truth, I take a lot of abuse. I have developed a thick skin. The only opinion of me that is important to me is that of God.

Having said that I am going to repeat once again that not everyone that calls themselves a prophet is a prophet. Sometimes we confuse a word for the body for a Word God gives us, personally, for us. Sometimes people try the prophetic scam to make money. I could name names but God has not released me to do so yet. I am praying about that.

I am perplexed by all these prophets who believe they are getting a word from God and it turns out so differently then they told us it would. The election results are what I am referring to today.

If we shared their Word online, that turned out to be false, now we look foolish too.

I am tired of making excuses for these people. When a prophet gives a Word it needs to be truthful. Some of these people are playing the people of God for the money they get from their hits on YouTube.

It’s gonna continue. I for one am gonna take the information in, pray about it, but NO Longer will I share it to increase their hits on You Tube and line their pocketbooks.

Be Yourself

God made each of us unique. That uniqueness is made to appeal to other people that we are sent to minister to. Your gift may be art, or music, cooking or teaching wisdom but whatever it is use it for spreading God’s love.

Not everyone will like us and those people aren’t our people.

Be yourself and those who get you will stay and those who don’t will leave and that’s okay.

The greatest way to relax in God’s peace is to realize you were created for God’s purposes and not your own. Then and only then does life start to make sense.

Dealing With Troublemakers

“ A dishonest man spreads strife.”

We all know them. They are troublemakers. Troublemakers are people who are so miserable in their own life that the only thing that makes them happy is starting trouble between other people, stirring the pot, and then sitting back and gleefully watching the outcome of the trouble they created.

It has taken me awhile but I have recently discovered a major troublemaker in my circle of friends and family. I had noticed that every single person that this person and I know in common suddenly stops talking to me. When, to the best of my knowledge, I had done nothing to any of these people to upset them I prayed about it and God revealed to me the source of the trouble was one person. One person who I have had discernment about for sometime. One person who was at one time close to God but through sexual addictions has opened a door to every demonic spirit one can imagine. Several years ago the person had pictures online of them in church. Then, apparently, they got involved with a bad person or two and you can see that Satan has entered their life now and as they say, “in spades.”

Because most Christians are sensitive people, when we don’t have on the armor of God, when we don’t have the gift of discernment in knowing how to best deal with these troublemakers, they can easily get under our skin, disrupting our home and lives, pulling us into their lion’s den.

All it takes is one Satan filled demon from hell to turn your whole office, family and or friends against you.

At first, when you are the target, you think as a Christian that you can simply pray for them and be kind to them and they will change their ways. I considered that, and frankly I have been praying for the person for years. I prayed for them long before their jealousy of my life led them to try and destroy my ministry and my life.

Upon studying the Bible, regarding the way Jesus handled trouble makers, I came to the knowledge that Jesus used diverse ways in handling troublemakers. Some times he confronted them with anger and outrage while telling followers to pray for these people.

You can try ignoring them but most of them, I have found, become further upset and then do anything they can to get your attention.

I honestly believe the best way to handle them is to go to the people who no longer speak to you and tell them what you suspect the person, the troublemaker, of doing. Their favorite tactic is to tell someone you said something about them. Something hurtful. You can then try and set the record straight. Unfortunately these troublemakers are very skilled at what they do and sometimes the offended friend will NOT believe you.

To my friends in ministry, of any type, I want to warn you of something some of you already know and that is the fact that ministry can be very lonely. We have very few friends because of the anointing Christ has on our lives. Other Christians, out of jealousy, look for something to accuse you of. If you, being human, have a hard day and share that with a friend, the next thing you know it’s used against you. Be very careful of who you share with!

Troublemakers need to be exposed. I have found, as I fast and pray about the situation, God reveals to me how to deal with the problem. He also starts to out the troublemakers to others who then begin to see the truth.

You want to give a troublemaker as little ammunition against you as possible so, after praying, God may tell you to unfollow them on FB, and cut them out of your life. If you have to work with them plead the blood of Jesus over yourself anytime you come into contact with them. Ask God to turn the arrows they are attacking you with right back onto them. God once, during prayer, gave me a vision of a shield of armor surrounding me, as a circular fence. Every time the troublemaker shot malicious arrows my way they bounced off the shield of armor and went back onto the troublemaker.

Do not, and I know it’s so hard, get anxious about a troublemaker. Remember, and quote often, the following scripture;

“Greater is He who is within ME then he who is in the world.” 1 John 4:4.

Lastly, the Word tells us to ignore troublemakers. Set things straight with others, if you can, and then simply try to not think of it all the time. Stop anxiety thoughts and place your mind elsewhere. Then give it to God and try to forgive them, through Christ, who has forgiven you and me of so very much!

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. – James 4:7

The Importance Of Respecting Elders In The Faith

Christian’s, if someone we know is older in the faith, and still loves and obeys God, then maybe we do ourselves a disservice when we don’t listen to what they say regarding God and keeping the faith.

Everyone who is saved will reach a crossroads experience at least once. That’s a place where we pray about something and it doesn’t turn out like we want it to turn out. During these times some will take the path of trusting God and others, because of free will, take the path away from God and back into the world.

Please understand that the elder saints have been through the crossroad experience and passed the test. They have been taught in the crucible of fire and passed the tests there. This is not to say they will not continue to be tested while in these suits of flesh, because we will all be tested until the day Christ comes to take us home.

When you are remodeling your home and need advice about plumbing, let’s say, do you go to someone who is an apprentice or the man who has been a plumber for twenty years?

Every time in my life when I have puffed myself up with pride and thought that I knew more then my elders in the Lord, who have been around longer, or think I am wiser then them because I have more anointing, I have fallen flat on my face.

No one will go further then you without God’s permission. God chooses to showcase some and often times leaves others, with just as much favor, in the background. I have learned that He is God and, as tempting as it is at times, I don’t question him.

When we first start out in our chosen profession we think we have “arrived.” Twenty years, or more, down the road we realize that we learned the most through on the job training, not education.

We have to stay humble and have a teachable spirit. The whole Christian life consists of learning and teaching, learning and teaching, learning and teaching.

Who are we to grieve the spirit by disregarding the teaching of our elders? Instead of calling a friend when we have a problem we should first take it to God, and then discuss it with someone older in the Lord.

Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” 1 Peter 5:5

I said all that to say this, the help we need is there from experienced elders, we simply have to ask. The wisdom you seek is hidden in little ministries that are not flashy and don’t seek attention. Pray for God to direct you to an elder Christian and pray to have a teachable spirit.

Bearing False Witness

New Living Translation

Give your burdens to the LORD, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.

Psalm 55:22

Making false accusations simply to keep an anti-abortion judge off the Supreme Court is dangerous territory.

I am not anti-women. I am anti-lying. I have sought God over this in prayer and my God given discernment tells me these people are lying.

If they succeed they have just taught a nation of people it’s okay to lie. I don’t care what YOU do for a living you could also become a target. You say something someone doesn’t like and you then can be accused of sexual abuse. Then they will examine YOUR life under a microscope. How would you feel if it was your father, brother or Son being accused?

This is WRONG. I thank you for letting me vent.

Psalm 35:1-20

Of David. Contend, O Lord, with those who contend with me; fight against those who fight against me! Take hold of shield and buckler and rise for my help! Draw the spear and javelin against my pursuers! Say to my soul, “I am your salvation!” Let them be put to shame and dishonor who seek after my life! Let them be turned back and disappointed who devise evil against me! Let them be like chaff before the wind, with the angel of the Lord driving them away! …

Those Who Reject God And His People

“Do not cast your pearls before swine. Do not waste good things on people who will not appreciate them. This proverb is adapted from a saying of Jesus from the Gospels, “Cast not pearls before swine.” Jesus appears to be warning his disciples to preach only before receptive audiences.”

Earlier this year the Lord spoke to my heart to share something with someone who is saved but obviously backslidden. As I started to do that she looked me right in the eye and walked away and out of the room.

I felt bad because I realized it wasn’t just me she was rejecting but God. When she looked me in the eye I saw not her but a demon operating through her.

I decided at that time that she made a choice. Not only to be disrespectful to me but, much more importantly, to God.

So we have to remember that some people are not EVER going to be receptive to the truth. Some people will have to go through more before they cry out to God to “save me, Father!” And since we don’t know which way it will go we must shake the dust from our feet and move on to where we are needed.

New International Version

“Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces. Matthew 7:6

To His Precious Hurting Child

John 10:10 (GNT) The thief comes only in order to steal, kill, and destroy. I have come in order that you might have life – life in all its fullness.

Never forget that the devil is a foe who constantly seeks to destroy us. Why? Because he knows his eventual end is Hell. He wants company there. He hates God and wants to steal His children.

Today while praying I sensed in the spirit there are many being hurt needlessly by someone on a regular basis. You think if you ignore them and love them unconditionally they will feel bad and change. In the meantime each day you feel a little bit worse about yourself.

Please remember that not everyone who calls themselves a Christian really is. Just like you don’t become a car by sitting in a garage, you don’t become a Christian by sitting in a church.

In an effort to destroy you the devil is using this person and the hurtful words that come out of their mouth. Pray for God’s salvation for this person because without a total commitment to God they won’t change.

Get out now and remove yourself from Satan’s territory.

Another Word From God

As I mentioned on Facebook the other night as we were listening to a Messianic message online, the Spirit Of The Lord fell in the room and enveloped me with a supernatural peace. Then I sensed God giving me a message for someone. Yesterday afternoon I could discern an angel of the Lord around me. My little cocker spaniel sensed it at the same time and the size of the angel frightened her. She moved towards me frightened.

I have seen angels at different times in my life. One time I visited a friend’s church with her family. At the end of the service the pastor asked the congregation to pray for him as he was going into the jail to minister to the folks. As he said that I looked up and on either side of him there were two HUGE angels. They were at least 10 feet tall. I looked around wondering if anyone else saw it and the women who had brought me there was standing next to me, with her mouth wide open. She said, “Cathie did you see what I saw!” I told her I had and for some reason she and I were the only two who saw them. We then told the pastor and it encouraged him so much. This was a little church in the south valley in Albuquerque. Not a mega church. But the Holy Spirit, in my experience, has shown himself more in little congregation then the Mega Churches. Those ministers are on fire for God and do not make the same mega salary and yet God sustains them.

Now today God has given me another message for someone. I sat with it all day wanting to pray over it and as I did I am now sure it’s from God. I always test the spirits as the Bible says, “Know ye also that Satan can come as an angel of light.”

Someone is up nights wringing your hands. You are almost broke and any savings you have is almost gone. The spirit of God says you have someone close to you who continues to beg you for money. They never have any because they live above their means and then run to you for basic necessities and you have been giving it to them. Sometimes you go without yourself to give them money. You are buying their love because you think if you don’t give them money they will not love you anymore. They have used that because they know how you are and they emotionally blackmail you. God says you have bought people’s love your entire life. As a child you had an out of balance parent who constantly put you down and their words soaked into your spirit and as a consequence you felt you were not worthy of love but that’s a lie from the pits of hell meant to curse you and not bless you. Now God wants you to put a stop to the giving. The person needs to depend on God, not you, to meet their needs. You now have gotten yourself into a financial bind, but God says as you refuse to give money to this person anymore their respect for you will return and they will realize their life needs a major overhaul.

As you do this God will part the Red Sea of your difficulties and provide you with the finances you so desperately needs. Trust that God is by your side as you tell the person you will no longer support their lifestyle. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.
