The Nine Gifts Of The Holy Spirit

The Nine Gifts Of The Holy Spirit

Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, [a] and to still another the interpretation of tongues.[b]11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines. 1 Corinthians 12:7-11

I believe that today, more than ever, we need to learn about the gifts of the Spirit, and operate in them.

If we want these gifts we can pray and ask God. Do we HAVE to have the gifts? No, but I like to think of the gifts as the frosting on the cake. Cake is okay without frosting, but the frosting takes it over the top.

The Apostle Paul tells us to not be afraid to try and stir up these 9 specific gifts from the Lord.

The bible tells us that the 9 gifts of the Spirit are available to all believers.

I have been given discernment of Spirits. What happens in this gift is that the Holy Spirit will give you supernatural discernment, insight and knowledge.

You might think that it would be a great gift to have. I say, truthfully, yes and no. Ignorance is indeed bliss. When people I do not know first meet me and I try to give them insight into certain situations it often makes them uneasy. They either wonder HOW I know something or, even worse, if I am making something up. After they have known me long enough they come to appreciate that knowledge from the Spirit as to what is “really going on.”

I have a close friend who I have known since high school. She was also my roommate at Western New Mexico University in my Freshman year. She has the gift of healing. The Spirit works through her in such a way that she lays her hands on a sick person and prays and the person is healed.

Once she and I went to visit someone in the hospital who was not expected to live. She went into the room, and you could literally sense the Holy Spirit all over her. She prayed for the person, on a Sunday, and before the week was over the person was discharged from the hospital with their health fully restored.

Most people I know operate in more then one gift of the Spirit.

The first gift I was given was a prayer language. I can tell you that during times I am anxious, or perplexed as to what to do, praying in tongues is such a blessing. Everyone can receive his or her prayer language, you simply ask God and surrender to His will. The prayer language is between you and God. Satan cannot interpret tongues. The Gift of Tongues is a bit different as that gift is given to someone who brings forth a message from God to edify the entire congregation. There is usually another person to interpret those tongues at the same time.

In with the gift of discernment I have also been given the gift to interpret dreams for people of God.

Do not be afraid of the gifts. They are given from God and there is nothing scary or demonic about them.

Ask God what your gift of the Holy Spirit is and then faithfully begin to operate in that gift.

If I can answer any questions for you, regarding the gifts, or if you need a dream interpretation simply contact me. We don’t charge for the gifts. They are for the edification of other Christians. Sometimes people want to give donations. That’s between them and God. If someone wants to give you a donation you must always take it. The reason is that God blesses the giver and by refusing their donation, no matter how small, you keep them from getting the blessing God gives especially to givers. I believe giving really is a gift too.

The gifts are not to be taken lightly. Be careful whom you discuss it with. People do not understand what they do not understand. Do not make it a source of arguments. If you do not want it, you are still just as saved.

I felt impressed by the spirit to do a brief teaching on it today. We need to be able to walk in supernatural, God-given power.

Be careful because a lot of new age gifts mimic the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Know the difference. Make sure the person who is explaining the gifts to you is a strong Christian that has been operating in the gifts for a long time.
