Trusting God When Nothing Is Making Sense

All day long I have felt the Lord laying it on my heart to share this with people who are feeling so frustrated with the way their life is going. People who believe God gave them a promise for their life and they see no evidence of it year after year after year. As a matter of fact some of you are wondering if you really did hear from God!

I have heard the story of Samson and Delilah my whole life. There is a part of it that God used yesterday in order to show me something I had not seen in the same way before. I was listening to Pastor Steven Furtick preach on the story yesterday when God opened my eyes to something through his sermon.

The part that came alive to me was the part in JUDGES 13. An Angel Of The Lord appears to Samson’s mother:

“Now therefore, please be careful not to drink wine or similar drink, and not to eat anything unclean. For behold, you shall conceive and bear a son. And no razor shall come upon his head, for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb; and he shall begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.” (Judges 13:4 & 13-14)

So she is told her son was to be used to deliver Israel out of the hands of the Philistines. She followed all the rules. She, and her husband, took time to raise Samson in the house of God. God had something important for their son to do. He was God’s anointed.

Time passes. When he was a young adult, Samson left the hills of his people to see the cities of Philistia. He fell in love with a Philistine woman from Timnah, whom he decided to marry, ignoring the objections of his parents, who were concerned because the Israelites were forbidden to marry Gentiles.

About now, if I was Samson’s mother, I would be thinking, “How can this be Lord? What you said to me had nothing to do with my son marrying the enemy! What is going on?”

As we read the whole story we come to see that what looked like a terrible mistake actually was part of God’s plan.

A lot of us think our miracle is going to be straight forward. Now when things aren’t looking good and everything is going crazy, we might be tempted to give up our dream.

What we fail to see is that when everything in the natural is looking bad, we have to stay calm. God will do what he said he will do, just like he did with Samson eventually. We have to trust the plan because God will not do it in the way it makes sense to us, instead he will do it in a way in which, when it happens against all odds, not just us, but all those watching, will know it was only because of God that we got our miracle!

You might not see it right now, beloved, but if you simply trust God, like a well woven quilt, your life is all going to all come together for your GOOD.

In His Unconditional Love,
